‘The Haunting of Hill House’ Will Become An Anthology Series

Written by on February 21, 2019

Netflix had an unlikely hit with the gothic horror/treatise on lingering effects of familial trauma bait-and-switch The Haunting of Hill House. That’s not the sort of thing you let stand alone in the age of binge television, so the network just announced that Haunting is set for the fate of all good horror TV of the ’10s: anthologization. Haunting is now a series with stand-alone seasonal arcs examining different houses and different people.

The next season will focus on another haunted house and the people unlucky enough to call it home. The Haunting of Bly Manor —as Deadline reports it will be called— will follow yet another well-loved horror tale. Hill House obviously came from the Shirley Jackson novel of the same name and Bly will be adapted from Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw

“Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy are masterful at creating authentically frightening stories that leave audiences on the edge of their seats, but unable to look away,” Netflix content VP Cindy Holland said, per the trade website. “We’re excited to continue our partnership with them on The Haunting series and future projects to come.”

Flanagan and Macy are equally excited to continue their partnership with the streaming TV giant, pointing to their past work on Gerald’s Game and Hill House.

“Netflix has been an important part of our story, and we’re proud to have worked with them on The Haunting of Hill House, not to mention Gerald’s Game, Hush, and Before I Wake,” said Flanagan and Macy. “They’ve enabled and supported a great deal of our work and we look forward to much more.”

Bly Manor is scheduled to drop in 2020. Use that time to hone your secret ghost vision.
