The North Face has reintroduced its widely celebrated Trans-Antarctica capsule, which still stands as one of the outdoor brand’s most sought-after collections thanks in large part to the historical importance of its backstory.

Back in 1990, the brand outfitted a team of explorers on a dogsled journey across Antarctica that spanned thousands of miles in the pursuit of climate change knowledge. As a result of the successful trek, worldwide leaders made moves to help Antarctica remain set for preservation.

Previously, The North Face commemorated this historic moment by way of collaborations with Supreme and Goldwin. With the return of the collection, the brand is aiming to put the spotlight on the importance of its past while also giving consumers a reason to look forward to what the future of exploration may hold.

Starting Oct. 5, the collection will be made available in select global markets and retailers. The pieces were crafted using details from the original 1990 International Trans-Antarctica Expedition, with these details also seeing the integration of fresh elements ranging from recycled materials to DryVent fabrics. The capsule boasts parkas, pants, fleeces, and hoodies. Prices start at $99.

In addition to bringing back the Trans-Antarctica capsule for a new generation, The North Face is also set to launch a new film titled Peace of History that focuses on 1990 International Trans-Antarctica Expedition leader Will Steger. While the full film isn’t dropping until Nov. 9, Tuesday saw the unveiling of a new trailer, which you can catch at the top of this page.

Below, see product and lifestyle shots from the capsule, as well as a pair of historical images from the 1990 trek.
