The Rock Shares Advice on Silencing Clowns in Light of ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ Success

Success paired with a smile, at least according to Dwayne Johnson, is the key to silencing those considered clowns in a metaphorical sense.
That’s the takeaway from a pair of tweets he shared in which a “clown,” notably not outright identified, is vaguely noted for his perceived clown activities. First, over the weekend, The Rock shared a Deadline article including updated box office stats for Hobbs & Shaw, which now stands at $333 million worldwide.
“Not too bad of WEEK 1 box office business. Thanks everyone around the world for having a great time and supporting our little spin-off,” Johnson said of the first spin-off in the Fast & Furious cinematic universe, also starring Jason Statham.
From there, Johnson brought out in the clown call-out, carefully explaining the proper way to silence a particular “clown” (though said clown goes unidentified here) is to engage in that aforementioned success-and-a-smile flexing method.
These messages, of course, are expectedly being quite widely interpreted as a response of sorts (without directly mentioning his name) to fellow Fast & Furious franchise star Tyrese Gibson’s recent attempt at criticizing the opening weekend box office performance of Hobbs & Shaw.
In a since-deleted post in which Tyrese had screenshot-shared a portion of a misleading article about the opening weekend haul of the movie (which debuted at No. 1), he rather prematurely insisted that all his public remarks against the spin-off had been proven valid.
Later this month, Hobbs & Shaw will add to its growing box office haul with international openings in South Korea, China, and Greece.
