The Weeknd Brings “Blinding Lights” to ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

Fresh off releasing the track’s official Anton Tammi-directed video, The Weeknd dropped in on Jimmy Kimmel Live proceedings on Wednesday night to deliver a live performance of the 2020 era cut.
As has been the case thus far with other TV performances from this era of Abel, he was very much in character for the Kimmel performance, notably revisiting the aesthetic that’s so prominent in the videos for both “Blinding Lights” and “Heartless.” Previously, Weeknd brought both songs to Stephen Colbert’s Late Show.
Chapter VI began in earnest back in November following teases that included confirmation of a music video shoot and an Instagram that was ceremoniously reactivated. “Heartless,” the track tasked with signaling Weeknd’s return, was co-produced by Metro Boomin and Illangelo.
Earlier this month, Chad Hugo revealed in an interview with Clash that he and Pharrell (a.k.a. the motherfucking Neptunes) had recently been in the studio with The Weeknd. “We were just in the studio with The Weeknd, and that sounds really futuristic,” Hugo said.
