The Weeknd Shares New ‘Live at SoFi Stadium’ Album

The Weeknd’s Live at SoFi Stadium is now available in album form.
On Friday, the new record was rolled out to streaming services following last month’s release of the HBO Max special of the same name. The concert film was directed by Micah Bickham, who shot the artist’s set in front of a sold-out Los Angeles crowd during the After Hours Til Dawn Tour last year.

The live album arrives during a particularly headlineable week for The Weeknd, who in the days leading up to the SoFi Stadium rollout was involved in growing speculation about another HBO project, The Idol. In an apparent response to a piece from Rolling Stone in which production on the Sam Levinson-led series was described as a “shitshow,” The Weeknd—who stars alongside Lily-Rose Depp—shared a scene from the not-yet-released show mentioning the publication.
“Did we upset you?” he tweeted when sharing the scene, which sees his Idol character calling the publication “irrelevant” during a conversation about a cover shoot.
While a release date for The Idol still hasn’t been announced, it’s far from the only Weeknd work on the horizon. It was announced days ago that the artist will lead the cast of an upcoming Trey Edward Shults film alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. The Weeknd also co-wrote the script for the movie, which is currently untitled.
