The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours’ Tops Billboard 200 for Second Straight Week

Following a massive debut week, The Weeknd‘s After Hours remains atop the Billboard 200 in its second week on the charts despite a 69 percent drop in sales. 

After Hours racked up 138,000 equivalent album units with 86,000 coming from streaming units, and 47,000 through traditional album sales. Still, it’s an impressive sum for The Weeknd’s fourth studio effort, considering its debut week was the biggest for an album this year, with 444,000 equivalent album units. After Hours was barely able to stave off the surge of Calm by 5 Seconds of Summer, which catapulted from No. 62 in its debut week to No. 2 with 133,000 units.

The 1,159 percent boost in sales of Calm was due to a clerical error that was attributed to a bundle deal involving the band’s upcoming U.S. tour. Customers who purchased the album through the bundle received the band’s latest project one week before its release date. It’s Billboard’s policy to “reflect album sale activity in the tracking week that the paying customer receives the album,” therefore, the 11,000 in CD sales were the only thing that could be accounted for in their “debut week.”

Meanwhile, Lil Uzi Vert‘s Eternal Atake continues to hover around the Billboard 200 top 10, settling in at No. 3 with 84,000 equivalent album units. Dua Lipa scored her first top 10 after Future Nostalgia generated 66,000 units in its first week. PARTYNEXTDOOR‘s latest project, PARTYMOBILE, slightly exceeded projections, debuting at No. 8 with 50,000 units, while Joyner Lucas’ ADHD snuck in at No. 10.
