Many teachers encounter the fine line between coming across as relatable with their students, and turning into a real-life version of that Steve Buscemi “How do you do, fellow kids” meme.
With instructors forced to deal with the youth’s ever-changing vocabulary, Twitter user @mewtailv2 shared a list titled the “Callahan’s Generation Z Dictionary” created by their teacher featuring slang terms that he has learned from his students.
“I often overhear students in the hallways or my classrooms using words (or) slang terms in their personal conversations,” James Callahan of Lowell High School in Massachusetts, aka @mewtailv2’s teacher, told USA Today. “In order to understand them better, (and) make a connection with them on a personal level, I started asking them what certain words meant.”
Some tried out these vocabulary words in response to the list.
Another thought to add a term to the list.
Whether you think this list is hilarious or ridiculous, we can probably all agree that it’s bizarre seeing how accurate these terms have been defined.
