Toronto’s Jordan Rhymes Drops New Single “I Remember”

Written by on September 11, 2021

Rising Toronto rapper Jordan Rhymes has dropped a reflective new single, “I Remember.”

The emotive track has the 25-year-old reminiscing about a past relationship over a brooding, piano-based trap beat. “I remember when this was your pleasure/You used to pull up in a Mazda/I remember things that you would say, shit/Nowadays it’s just like la la,” he sings in a high-pitched, Tory Lanez-esque timbre on the hook. Later in the song, he launches into some harder-edged bars, flexing his vesatility.

“We all go through ups and downs in relations and life. Those memories don’t die,” Rhymes tells Complex. “It’s not there to keep us hurting, but to remind us of the mistakes we’ve made and how to better ourselves.” Hey, we’ve all been there.

In the track’s accompanying visuals, Rhymes is shown arguing with his irate former lover, contrasted with scenes of him kicking it with a chill new one. If you ask us, the broski’s moved on up.

The track follows “Confess,” the single he dropped just a couple weeks ago, which was inspired by heartbreak and his preemptive guilt for hurting the next women in his life. Love is complicated!
