Tory Lanez isn’t short on confidence, but it seems like quarantine might have made him reflect on his past antics.
On Tuesday, the Toronto native took to Twitter where he posted-and-deleted a tweet that apologizes for claiming that he’s the best rapper alive.
“Lol yo I’m sorry for the time I said ‘Im the best rapper alive,'” Lanez wrote. “even if I feel that way about myself . It’s a dumbass statment . And even though I’m always ready to stand behind my talent . It made me look like a dickhead . And I’m truly not that. so yeah . my bad lmao”
After challenging rappers to friendly battles, Lanez declared himself the “Best Rapper Alive” in January 2019.
“IM THE BEST RAPPER ALIVE RIGHT NOW …… I WILL BODY ANY OF YALL NIGGAS OUT ! PERIOD,” Lanez said before explaining that he gave every rapper an equal opportunity to battle him and even the greats like J. Cole and Pusha T “weren’t ready.”
“Don’t tell me nothing about Cole or Pusha T Either .. some of my favorite rappers but ….. I gave them both an equal opportunity to go bar for bar with me . And they weren’t READY,” Lanez continued.
While this did spark an entertaining exhibition with Don Q and Joyner Lucas, Lanez now sees the errors of his ways and how arrogant comments like these come across to fans.
But maybe being cocky is good. After his apology, he followed that tweet with a reminder for The New Toronto 3 release and told followers “I am spitting on that!”
