An explosion at the Hoover Dam on Tuesday cued an emergency response from a group of Nevada firefighters.
Footage of the incident circulating social media shows what appeared to be a fire in a building near the base of the dam, which is located in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River on the border between Nevada and Arizona.
The Bureau of Reclamation, a federal agency which runs the Hoover Dam, took to Twitter to announce a transformer caught fire on Tuesday morning, before a local fire department extinguished the flames a half hour after the explosion.
A spokesperson for the Bureau of Reclamation told Fox News that no one was injured during the accident.
“There are no injuries to visitors or employees,” Michelle Helms told the outlet. “There is no risk to the power grid and power is still being generated from the powerhouse. We are investigating the cause of the fire and will provide additional updates as they are available.”
The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation, according to ABC News.
