Travis Scott on Kanye’s Trump Era: ‘Everybody Go Through Sh*t’

Written by on December 20, 2018

Travis Scott just bagged another enviable cover before 2018 fizzles out. As with all well-penned cover stories, this one is preferably best enjoyed in full instead of snippets, but I digress.

Speaking with Rolling Stone‘s Jonah Weiner, the ASTROWORLD gave fans more insight on how Kanye West‘s MAGA embraces earlier this year made him feel as a fan and friend, and much more.

“I mean, shit, I’d tell him, ‘Bro, chill. What you gotta understand is, young black kids are looking up to you, and the message you used to preach in your earlier music? It’ll make a young black kid—it’ll make any kid —confused,'” Scott said. “That shit was — come on. But when Ye get on some shit, he on some shit. I don’t know if that n***a just liked the hat or what, dog. Ye deals with different shit in his life. That’s family. You don’t wanna desert your bro. Everybody go through shit. He still a dope musician. But he’s definitely hit me up about it, and I’ve told him, ‘Man, you got kids looking up to you, feel me?'”

Scott’s published comments arrive shortly after Pusha-T addressed the subject on The Daily Show. According to King Push, West has (fucking finally!) “stopped” wearing the MAGA hat.

Elsewhere in the Rolling Stone interview, Scott looked back on the beginning of his and Kylie Jenner’s relationship, expressed his love for daughter Stormi, reflected on his family’s influence, and briefly spoke on his support of Houston Democrat Beto O’Rourke. “It’s been ‘Fuck Ted Cruz,'” he said. “This guy Beto, he on some shit. He pulled up on me.”

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal proposal, Scott added, “sounds fire.”
