Background

Back in November of 2020, just two weeks after the presidential election, a group of lawyers then affiliated with Donald Trump spoke at the Republican Party’s headquarters, claiming election software firm Dominion Voting Systems worked with others to make sure the final result was stolen from the former president.

But now, a memo obtained by the New York Times suggests Trump’s campaign was aware that the conspiracy surrounding the firm, George Soros, and Venezuela was not true.

Days before the Nov. 19 presser, a staff memo sent to Zach Parkinson, then the campaign’s deputy director of communications, reportedly included the following findings: Dominion’s machines didn’t use technology from software company Smartmatic in the election, there were no direct ties between Dominion and Venezuela or Soros, and there was no evidence that Dominion had “antifa” ties.
