Trump Extends U.S. Social Distancing Guidelines to April 30

Written by on March 30, 2020

Donald Trump announced at a White House briefing in the Rose Garden Sunday that the country’s social distancing guidelines, which were implemented to help combat the spread of coronavirus, will be extended to April 30.

“Nothing would be worse than declaring victory before the victory is won. That would be the greatest loss of all,” he said. “The better you do, the faster this whole nightmare will end. Therefore, we will be extending our guidelines to April 30, to slow the spread.” Based on estimates, Trump believes that the death rate from the virus will reach its peak in two weeks, putting an end to his optimistic projection that the U.S. would be getting back to normal by Easter on April 12.

Trump’s announcement resulted in “Another 30” trending on Twitter, where people were admitting that this isn’t even close to the actual timetable we will be facing.

“We can expect that by June 1st, we will be well on our way to recovery, we think by June 1st. A lot of great things will be happening,” Trump added. We’ll see about that.
