Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s Account Displays Offensive Messages After Hack

Written by on August 31, 2019

Jack Dorsey‘s verified Twitter account was hacked Friday afternoon by a group that refers to itself as “Chuckle Squad.”

The compromised account displayed a series of aggressive and offensive tweets, including messages with the N-word, one that defended Adolf Hitler, and another that threatened to blow up Twitter’s headquarters. Some of the posts were retweets from accounts of those who were suspected of carrying out the hack.

As pointed out by The Verge, the messages appeared to have been sent through Cloudhopper, a third-party service that allows users to tweet via text message.

The group also invited Dorsey’s 4.2 million followers to join their Discord server and “Chuckle with us.”

“Both the server and the server owner were permanently removed from Discord within minutes of this being reported to us,” a representative for the platform told The Verge.

The hackers’ tweets have since been removed from Dorsey’s account. Twitter’s communications account confirmed they are aware of the incident and have launched an investigation. The accounts that were retweeted during the hack have also been suspended.
