Tyler Perry is doing what he can to help the elderly during the coronavirus pandemic. As People reports, Perry surprised older shoppers across 74 stores in Atlanta and New Orleans. In the former he paid for the groceries at 44 Kroger stores, while the latter he did so at 29 Winn Dixie stores, and did so during the hour that the stores are only open to the elderly.
“He wanted to do something special to provide immediate relief for some of the most vulnerable in the two cities he considers home,” a source close to the situation told People.
A number of shoppers who had their groceries paid for thanked him on social media.
This isn’t the first act of kindness Perry has pulled off since the pandemic virtually shut down the country. At a Houston’s restaurant in Atlanta earlier this month, Perry gave a $21,000 tip to the workers when he collected his takeout food. Additionally, he’s set to make an appearance at Joel Osteen’s virtual Easter service alongside Kanye West and Mariah Carey.
