‘Us’ Trailer: Your First Look at Jordan Peele’s Latest Film

Movie fans, rejoice: Jordan Peele has just laced the world with the greatest Christmas gift of 2018. Today, bright and early, as everyone opened up their gifts, Peele dropped off the first trailer for Us, the long-awaited follow-up to his 2016 standout (and Oscar-winning) film Get Out.
The film, which hits theaters on March 15, 2019, finds a family (featuring Black Panther stars Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke) spending time away from home with their friends (portrayed by The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss and Tim Heidecker, of Tim & Eric fame). After a trip to the beach, which included the family’s son wandering off, they are approached, stalked, and terrorized by a new evil: a family of four that looks just like them, but is all types of sinister.
The trailer features loads of jump scares, tears falling, and Winston and Lupita kicking each other’s asses. It also features the best flip of the Luniz’s 1995 classic “I Got 5 On It,” both as a joke and as the insane soundtrack to this family wreaking havoc on…themselves.
On Tuesday, December 18, Complex joined select outlets in screening rooms in New York and Los Angeles to preview the trailer ahead of its release. During a brief introduction, Jordan Peele himself explained that, with Us, he wanted to create a “new mythology” and “new monster.” That new monster? Us. After confirming that Us isn’t about race, Peele remarked that “we are our own worst memories.” He also stated that it was important for him to have a black family at the center of this film.
Well, there you have it; we’re sure you’ll be replaying what Peele called his “nice, eerie, creepy ass gift” on this Christmas Day. Be sure to flock to theaters on March 15, when Us will finally be unleashed upon…um…us.
