Usain Bolt Receives Two-Year Contract Offer From Valletta FC

Written by on October 16, 2018

Usain Bolt has been offered a two-year contract by the Maltese club Valletta FC, according to ESPN. The interest in Bolt piqued after he scored two goals as a member of Australia’s A-League Central Coast Mariners in his first professional soccer start. His first score came after Usain used his unique blend of speed and strength to shed the last defender for Macarthur South West United before nestling a roller into the back of the net.

Just 15 minutes later in the match, Bolt easily knocked the ball into the back of the net by capitalizing on a communication gaffe between the Macarthur South West United goalkeeper, and their last line of defense.

Valletta managing director and CEO Ghasston Slimen told ESPN the club hopes they can get a deal done soon, so they can have Bolt available for their Maltese Super Cup match against Balzan on December 13. “A champion is always welcome and at Valletta FC we believe nothing is impossible,” Slimen said.

Valletta FC was bought in September by the Abu Dhabi-based Sanban Group. Their goals include making a Champions League appearance, and adding a number of “high-quality signings.” Inking Bolt may not be deemed a “high-quality signing,” but his presence will surely get people’s attention.
