Vancouver rapper Kresnt has dropped his second project of the year, visual EP CALMER.

Each of the five tracks have their own visualizer, which were all shot, edited, and co-produced by Kresnt himself, with a little help from Vancouver beatmakers Audiodrugz, Ryan Lore, Bowen Sanderson (aka Nxsty), and DJ Big Smoke.

Calmer calls on late ’90s R&B, simple keys and recognizable samples to pull together a boppy, summer-feeling record.

Dropping in conjunction with the Islamic celebration of Eid al-Fitr, the EP is in part inspired by Kresnt’s faith. While he says the project isn’t necessarily Islamic music, the self-proclaimed “religous-ish” rapper explores similar themes throughout Calmer.

Kresnt is staying on his prolific grind, as he dropped his album Hustle Sold Serparately only four months ago. Upon its release, he told Complex Canada the album is “a moment where I reflect on the journey so far as a young Afghan refugee coming to a whole new world and learning to adapt, but also never forget my cultural roots.”
