Video Appears to Show DaBaby Being Detained by Police

DaBaby may have found himself in more legal trouble.
On Thursday afternoon, DJ Akademiks posted a video that shows the Charlotte rapper in handcuffs and being taken away by Miami law enforcement.
“They arrestin’ DaBaby. Crazy,” the man behind the camera is heard saying as additional police cars roll up. “… All that for DaBaby.”
Another shot of the incident has also surfaced online. The clip shows DaBaby posing for a photo on the hood of his car, as police cars surround him.
The reason for the purported arrest has not been revealed. Stay tuned as more information becomes available. DaBaby was in Miami this week for a New Year’s Eve performance at Story Nightclub. The event drew a star-studded crowd that included Fat Joe, Meek Mill, and Winnie Harlow.
This incident occurred less than two weeks after DaBaby—legal name Jonathan Kirk—was detained in North Carolina and given citations for misdemeanor marijuana possession, resisting an officer, and obstructing or delaying an arrest. The Grammy-nominated artist said the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department unlawfully searched his car and arrested him; he also accused the police of targeting him every time he performed at Charlotte’s Bojangles Coliseum, where he had performed prior to being detained.
DaBaby shared the following footage of the CMPD officers inspecting his car while he was inside the venue performing.
“The CMPD has launched an Internal Affairs investigation to determine if Officers followed department policies and directives during the incident,” a press release said.
