A quick-thinking Chick-fil-A worker has been hailed a hero after he saved the life of a customer’s little boy.
Georgia teen Logan Simmons was working the drive-thru Wednesday when he heard a woman’s screams coming from a vehicle in line. Surveillance footage shows the employee jumping through the window and making his way to the car, where a 6-year-old boy was being choked by a seat belt.
“I’m still kind of shocked right now myself that all this has happened,” Simmons told WSB-TV 2. “I just jumped out the window and ran straight down to the car. I think it was the quickest option.”
He continued: “You could see [the boy] was turning red and losing pigmentation in his face.”
Simmons, who works at the Chick-fil-A in Flowery Branch, about 40 miles away from Atlanta, said he pulled out a pocket knife and freed the choking boy. An hour after the incident, the child’s mother called Simmons to thank him.
“He’d been home for a couple of hours and he said nonchalantly, ‘I saved a kid’s life today,’ and I was like ‘What?'” the teen’s mother, Teri Simmons, said. “I’m amazed he didn’t panic. As his mother, I would have panicked. I’d be running around going, ‘Oh my gosh! What do we do?'”
