Vince Staples Drops “Rose Street,” Shares New Album Release Date

Written by on March 28, 2022

Ahead of the release of his forthcoming album Ramona Park Broke My HeartVince Staples has shared his latest single “Rose Street.”

In tandem with the new song, which is accompanied by a short visual that features the Long Beach rapper gazing at the Pacific Ocean while sitting atop a bed of rocks, Staples has shared the artwork and release date for his next full-length offering.

Set to be released April 8, Ramona Park Broke My Heart will serve as the official follow-up to Staples’ self-titled 2021 album.

Staples took to social media on Monday to share the album artwork alongside a message that read, “I am often told the lie that life is what you make it. For over a decade, most of my work has been an anthology of what I believed to be home. Now I’ve realized that it reaches beyond location.”

He continued, “I have been exploring the utility of home. Security. Comfort. Meaning. The answer. The excuse. To outgrow is to love blindly no longer. ‘Ramona Park Broke My Heart’ is the story of that growth.”

“Rose Street” arrives on the heels of Staples’ Mustard-produced single “Magic,” which he revealed encapsulates the overall sound of Ramona Park.

“I think it’ll put the listener in a good state of mind,” he previously said. “The mood of it defines the project.”

Speaking about the title of his highly anticipated album, Vince explained it’s a tribute to the Ramona Park neighborhood in Long Beach where he grew up.

“It’s symbolic of home,” he said. “And everyone has a home. Even though it’s very personal to me, everyone can relate to it. That’s why I thought it would work for this chapter.”

As for how fans can expect his forthcoming project to relate to 2021’s Vince Staples, the 28-year-old said “there’s a direct correlation.”

“They were kind of created at the same time,” Staples revealed. “I was in a similar state of mind. I’m still working through things and the questions that life poses. This album will make even more sense if you heard the previous one.”
