Virgil Abloh presented his Louis Vuitton Menswear Fall/Winter 2021 collection for Paris Fashion Week today. The event live-streamed on YouTube this morning and included in the preview is a new sneaker that features design elements reminiscent of a classic Nike Basketball silhouette.
Models that walked the runway of the label’s latest collection, titled “EBONICS,” were spotted wearing a previously-unseen Louis Vuitton sneaker that appears to be influenced by the Nike Air Foamposite, predominantly with their uppers showcased in a metallic brown and silver colorways. The shimmering uppers also bears resemblance to the Nike Air Max Wavy, a takedown version of the Air Foamposite that debuted in 2010.
Abloh became Louis Vuitton’s artistic director of menswear in March 2018 and has since delivered several acclaimed sneaker designs including the LV Trainer as well as the LV Comet shoe from last year’s event, with both pairs taking heavy design cues from popular Air Jordan 3 and Jordan 4 models.
Aside from his work with Louis Vuitton, Abloh recently confirmed that his Off-White fashion label has a wave of Nike and Air Jordan collabs on the way including the highly-anticipated Futura x Off-White x Nike Dunk Lows, the “Canary Yellow” Off-White x Air Jordan 1 High, and more.
While the first look was shared today’s Louis Vuitton Menswear Fall/Winter 2021 show, a name and release date for Abloh’s new LV sneaker are currently unknown.
