Watch Chris Rock Playfully Roast Jeff Bezos Over His Divorce at 2020 Oscars

Jeff Bezos endured some mild roasting at the 92nd annual Academy Awards.
During the ceremony’s opening monologue, comedians Chris Rock and Steve Martin singled out the Amazon CEO, making a number of jokes at his obscene wealth and highly publicized divorce.
“He’s got cash. When he writes a check, the bank bounce,” Rock said. “Jeff Bezos is so rich, he got divorced and he’s still the richest man in the world. He saw Marriage Story and thought it was a comedy.”
Rock then turned it over to Martin: “Steve, do you have anything you want to add about Mr. Bezos?”
“No, I like getting my packages on time,” Martin responded.

Bezos divorced MacKenzie Bezos—his wife of 25 years—in July 2019, after his affair with news anchor Lauren Sanchez became public. As part of the split, MacKenzie received nearly 20 million shares of Amazon stock (4 percent of the entire company), which was worth around $36 billion at the time. The settlement effectively made MacKenzie the 22nd wealthiest person in the world.
Bezos retained 75 percent of the former couple’s Amazon stock, leaving him with about $105 billion. According to Bloomberg’s estimates, Bezos’ current net worth is around $127 billion, making him the richest man in the world.
