With the world of gaming as big as it’s ever been (and showing no signs of declining), it’s been intriguing to see it collide with hip-hop culture. Whether it’s Travis Scott curating the soundtrack to NBA 2K19 or Drake breaking Twitch streaming records on Fortnite, exciting new possibilities are emerging on both ends.
At ComplexCon 2018, Everyday Struggle host and avid gamer DJ Akademiks moderated a panel that featured the YBN crew (Almighty Jay, Nahmir, and Cordae), the legend Trick Daddy, and 2K associate brand marketing manager Michael Howard talking about the intersection of hip-hop and gaming. They dig into everything from how hip-hop is being incorporated into the games we’re all playing to how artists can make sure they’re pursuing (and getting paid for) the opportunities that video games are opening up.
