Watch Dave East’s New Funk Flex Freestyle

Written by on November 18, 2019

Dave East continues to celebrate the release of his debut album by blessing Funkmaster Flex with another freestyle, this time over Heavy D’s “Big Daddy” instrumental.

“It’s a million ways to get rich in New York City/Niggas with nicks act like they got bricks in New York City,” East raps. “It was Dirty Kitchen for breakfast/bubble-eye Lexus/Hard to talk to me like a child that was neglected/Hot nine-seven called, figured I would ‘flex’ it/Finger fucking guns, can’t name the pistols I’ve molested.”

East informed Flex that he’s “rapped out” after running out of lyrics, so he handed the mic over to a trio of artists, Rich Rhymer, King Shooter, D. Jones. The rappers put together a freestyle that was reminiscent of a State Property sparring session. Jones was the first to handle the instrumental and he left the biggest impression.

“Dreaming about stopping my paper, I’m Jason/Wake-up, Playboy. We got your bitch half-naked tied up in the back of a parked whip,” Jones raps. “Play the game and I talk that shit. Shaq/The paper good and I’m always fit. Facts… I’ma money making animal, dog/ I know the hustle. The shit that I want, I got it, came from the muscle/I’m working on my first Kimora like I’m Russell.”

Earlier this month, East released his first studio album, Survival. The album features Lil Baby, Teyana Taylor, Gunna, and more. The rapper decided to remove Kodak Black from the project due to his comments about Nipsey Hussle—who is also featured on the album.

“Me and Nip—like I said when you asked me—it was deeper than rap. So anybody—I don’t care who it might have been—don’t speak on that man after he’s gone if it’s not in a positive light. Don’t speak on that man’s woman, that man’s kids. Don’t bring that man up,” East told Big Boy. “I just couldn’t have a song called ‘The Marathon Continues’ where I’m talking to my brother—and he’s on it—and a few songs before it, you know… But like I said, I don’t have no problems with homie. Free Kodak Black.”
