Watch Kate McKinnon’s Laura Ingraham Interview Elizabeth Warren in ‘SNL’ Cold Open

Written by on March 8, 2020

SNL is back this week with host Daniel Craig and musical guest The Weeknd. For tonight’s cold open, the SNL cast mocks Fox News and The Ingraham Angle.

In the sketch, Kate McKinnon plays Fox News host Laura Ingraham, who complained that the coronavirus crisis is actually a hoax. Then she took a shot at Chris Matthews who retired from MSNBC after claims of his inappropriate conduct resurfaced.

When it was time for a “celebrity interview,” Ingraham spoke with Elizabeth Warren, who talked about ending her presidential campaign. You can watch a clip above.

Just like last week, SNL wanted to lighten the mood as fears of coronavirus spreading has increased in recent weeks. During that cold open, the episode opened with a White House news conference addressing the coronavirus situation and how they plan on handling it. After Vice President Mike Pence, played by Beck Bennett, and Ben Carson, played by Kenan Thompson, updated the American public about the coronavirus with some facts, the democratic presidential candidates hijacked their press conference.

Michael Bloomberg (Fred Armisen), Bernie Sanders (Larry David), Elizabeth Warren (Kate McKinnon), Joe Biden (John Mulaney), Pete Buttigieg (Colin Jost), and Amy Klobuchar (Rachel Dratch) began pitching themselves to convince Americans why they were the best person to lead the coronavirus efforts. You can re-watch it here.
