Watch Pusha-T, Hit-Boy, More Back HeadCount’s Cannabis Voter Project

Written by on July 25, 2022

Pusha-T, Hit-Boy, Styles P, and Benny the Butcher are among the names to back HeadCount’s new initiative to help reform the country’s marijuana laws.

The initiative, entitled Cannabis in Common, calls on senators to back the federal legalization of cannabis as an increasing number of states embrace recreational and medicinal use of the drug. A newly released video pushing the campaign was directed by activist Marvin Bing, and sees the likes of Pusha-T and former NBA star Al Harrington calling on voters to make their voices heard.

Cannabis in Common is also calling for any marijuana-related convictions to be expunged, undoing just some of the negative impact the war on drugs has had on so many communities across the country. The arrival of the video comes just as Charles Schumer, Sen. Cory Booker, and Sen. Ron Wyden introduced the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act, the first bill of its kind that could lead to federal legalization.

“These days, it often feels like politics is defined by our disagreements,” said Cannabis Voter Project director Sam D’Arcangelo, “But more than two thirds of Americans believe cannabis should be legalized. We all need to make our voices heard so elected officials know this issue is important to voters.” Other celebrities who have backed the campaign in the past include noted marijuana enjoyer Seth Rogen, and Sarah Silverman.

Leading up to the midterm election later this year, the Cannabis Voter Project will begin its “Roll Up To the Polls” campaign to further educate eligible voters on cannabis law. Check out the new video above, and learn more about the overall initiative here.
