Watch the Official Trailer for Upcoming Amazon Docuseries ‘Free Meek’

Meek Mill is giving us an in-depth look at his journey from wrongfully spending months behind bars to using his experience and platform to help others who face similar circumstances, in the JAY-Z executive produced-docuseries Free Meek.
The five-part docuseries will chronicle Meek’s widely-publicized legal battle over a two-to-four year sentence in state prison over probation violations stemming from his 2008 gun and drug convictions, which landed him behind bars for five months. The doc will use the rapper’s situation to expose the broader flaws of the U.S. criminal justice system that have negatively impacted his life and the lives of so many others.
Free Meek will track his fight for freedom with the help of his family and legal team, and the birth of the #FREEMEEK movement. I will also explore the criminal justice reform organization REFORM Alliance, which he serves as founding partner and co-chair, and look into the re-investigation of his 2008 case amid concerns of “credibility issues with a police officer who was a ‘critical witness,'” raised by a Pennsylvania Supreme Court judge along with the rapper’s release.
Earlier this month, Meek was honored with a Social Justice award at the seventh annual McSilver Awards at NYU, which acknowledges the “Vanguards for Social Justice who are prominent in their fields and unafraid to use their platforms to help create a more equitable and just world.”
Free Meek will premiere Friday, August 9 on Amazon Prime Video. Watch the trailer up top.
