After captivating the attention of the entire nation with the docuseries Tiger King, Netflix is venturing back into the big movie business later this month with their Russo Brothers-produced film Extraction starring Chris Hemsworth.
Hemsworth plays Tyler Rake, a mercenary who has been hired to go to Bangladesh and rescue an imprisoned international crime lord’s kidnapped son. IndieWire notes the film was originally titled Dhaka after the capital city of Bangladesh. Extraction also stars David Harbour (Stranger Things) and Derek Luke (Antwone Fisher).
The film will be the directorial debut of Sam Hargrave, a stunt coordinator on a number of movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Joe Russo wrote the script, and will serve as a producer, along with his brother Anthony, who previously worked together to direct Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War.
This will be the second of three known projects from the Russo Brothers since Endgame that features an MCU star. Last year, the duo produced 21 Bridges starring Chadwick Boseman. They are getting back behind the camera for the Tom Holland-led film Cherry, a gritty drama about an Army medic who turns to robbing banks in order to pay for his addiction to opioids.
Extraction will hit the platform on April 24. Check out the debut trailer up top.
