Watch the Video for Dvsn’s New Track “If I Get Caught”

Written by on July 22, 2022

Dvsn have returned with their new track “If I Get Caught.” They also shared the song’s music video, which you can watch up top.

The OVO duo teased the record earlier this week, declaring it among the “five most honest anthems” in music history, alongside SZA’s “The Weekend,” Usher’s “Confessions Pt. II,” Drake’s “Marvins Room,” and Jay-Z’s “Song Cry.”

The track was co-produced by Dvsn’s Nineteen85, Bryan Michael Cox, and Jermaine Dupri, who was instrumental in locking down a sample of Jay’s “Song Cry.” Dupri confirmed the clearance via Instagram on Wednesday, when he shared a screenshot of his text exchange with Hov.

“I didn’t think one could make a song more toxic than ‘Song Cry.’ I stand corrected,” Jay wrote, prompting to Dupri to ask if he had authorization. “I just want a disclaimer that says that I said this song is wrong! Haaaaa And you’re good!”

Dvsn reshared the screenshot on his Instagram, but pushed back on Jay’s “toxic” description.

“Thank you @jermainedupri for clearing Jay Z sample,” they wrote in the caption. “Oh and btw Jay, it’s not toxic, it’s honest!”

You can listen to “If I Get Caught” now on Apple Music and Spotify.

The record is expected to land on Dvsn’s upcoming studio album, their first full-length project since last year’s Cheers to the Best Memories with Ty Dolla Sign. Nineteen85 and Daniel Daley, the other half of Dvsn, have been hyping the effort throughout 2022, sharing multiple videos from their recording sessions. The pair described the project as “a real R&B album.”
