‘Watchmen’s’ Damon Lindelof Is Down for a ‘Star Wars’ Movie, Marvel Series in the Future

Written by on March 14, 2020

Though a return to his excellent take on Watchmen remains highly unlikely, Damon Lindelof isn’t against hopping into the respective fires of Marvel and Star Wars sometime in the future.

“I think that doing something in the Marvel universe, anywhere in the Marvel Universe, would be really potentially exciting for me, especially as they start to get a little bit more experimental,” Lindelof told Fandom in a recent interview surrounding the release of The Hunt, which he wrote. “Some of the things that I’ve seen for Wandavision, for example, just feel like, ‘Okay, now we’re getting somewhere.’ Particularly in a television space.”

As for Star Wars, which just last year damn near fucked up the whole franchise’s legacy, Lindelof—noting that such a project would “certainly” not come to fruition anytime soon—expressed printable interest in taking a proverbial stab.

“I feel like I would love to do something in the Star Wars universe,” he said before slyly nodding at the Rise of Skywalker x J.J. Abrams frustrations widely shared by fans. “Maybe a decade from now when I would no longer be blamed for ruining it. That would be a hoot.”

The Hunt, meanwhile, opened Friday after being hit with some release date uncertainty last year. The Craig Zobel-helmed satire was originally set to open on Sept. 27, before some mass shootings-inspired rearranging ultimately resulted in a suspension of its promo campaign and an outright pull from the release calendar. By February of this year, however, it had been revived for a Friday the 13th North American drop date.
