Weekday Does “DENIM LIKE ITS 1999” for Spring/Summer 2020
Written by SOURCE on January 23, 2020
Weekday reigns in the decade ahead by taking a trip down nostalgia lane with their Spring/Summer 2020 collection.
Framed as a throwback to simpler times, Weekday’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection looks to the carefree expression brought on by the internet and social media explosion as the turn of the millennium. For “DENIM LIKE ITS 1999”, Weekday shifts their focus from workwear and spotlights the relationships between the body and the clothes that cover it. Pushing a sustainable focus, the collection consists of 100% organic cotton denim pieces such as low-slung jeans, double denim sets, tight-fitting tops, and deconstructed apparel lines.
Speaking on the collection’s organic direction, Ulrika Jakobsson, Sustainability Manager at Weekday said: “It feels great that we reached our goal for 2020, that 100% of our cotton is organic or recycled. Organic cotton is grown without chemical treatments and require much less energy and water
than regular cotton. Recycled cotton is even better since it uses resources already out there. Next step will be to increase the share of recycled cotton and scale up new alternatives to cotton.”
