Woman Reportedly Tells Sonic Server ‘This One’s on God’ Before Fleeing With Stolen Food

Written by on July 26, 2019

A New Mexico woman has been charged after ordering food from a Sonic and allegedly telling the server, “This one’s on God,” before running away.

In response, the server reportedly said, “That’s now how this works,” and tried to keep the food from her, the Las Cruces Sun-News reports. He handed her the meal after she allegedly threatened him and moved towards him to take it.

Court documents state that the server then called the police. Authorities later found the woman—30-year-old Delila Hernandez—at a nearby park where she was eating the meal she’d purportedly stolen. She had ridden her bike to the Sonic.

According to the Sun-News, Hernandez told the officers she knew that what she did was wrong and hesitated to eat the meal. She ended up eating it though because she was “starving.”

She was subsequently arrested and charged with robbery, a felony count that may be reduced.

In other weird food-related news, Forever 21 has been accused of fat-shaming its customers after it reportedly included Atkins diet bars with online orders. Several people called the move “tone-deaf” and “dangerous,” since it could possibly trigger customers who experience self-image issues and/or eating disorders.

Others accused Forever 21 of only sending the bars to customers who had purchased plus-sized items; however, the company insists the samples were included in all orders. The retailer has apologized for the “oversight” and confirmed it will no longer send the bars to customers.
