An associate of the late rapper XXXTentacion has been arrested for the murder of a former UCF football player, the local CBS affiliate reports.
Tankhead666—whose birth name is Lynwood Walker III—was arrested on Monday for his alleged connection to the shooting that claimed the life of Jose Trimaine Jose. The shooting took place near N. Miami Ave at 2 p.m. local time on Friday outside a popular gastropub. When police arrived at the scene, they found two victims injured by gunshot wounds. The two men were transported to a nearby hospital where the 27-year-old Jose succumbed to his injuries. The other victim’s identity has not been revealed, but he remains in critical condition.
The motives for the shooting are unclear. After Friday’s incident, an arrest warrant was issued for Walker. He was eventually apprehended in another state and returned to Miami-Dade County.
Tankhead666 is a part of XXXTentacion’s Members Only musical collective. He considered himself good friends with XXXTentacion and was known as the rapper’s enforcer. During an interview with VladTV in January, Tankhead spoke about his relationship with XXXTentacion, claiming that he was willing to die for the rapper.
“I wouldn’t say security because I wasn’t getting paid to be his security,” Tankhead said at the clip’s 2:17 minute mark, properly referring to his early days with X as a guardian.
