XXXTentacion & Lil Wayne’s “School Shooters” Video Pays Tribute to Parkland

XXXTentacion‘s Bad Vibes Forever cut “School Shooters,” featuring Lil Wayne, now has a video from director Eif Rivera.

Friday, the XXXTentacion estate released the new video, which references X’s visiting of Parkland, Florida school shooting survivor Anthony Borges at the hospital. The video’s concept centers on a bullied teen, opening with a depiction of being harassed in a bathroom followed by the teen’s thoughts of attacking a school.

Speaking with Billboard last year, producer John Cunningham recalled how “School Shooters” first came together. While X ultimately went with the track “Hope” as a tribute release in the wake of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, Cunningham noted they actually recorded multiple songs during this period.

“The school shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida in 2018—[X] lived right down the street from that, and was essentially neighbors with the high school when that happened,” Cunningham said. “He was really affected by it, and he wanted to lend his support and put out a song to show people that he was trying to help.”

Bad Vibes Forever, XXXTentacion’s final studio album and second posthumous solo release, dropped in July of last year with “Hearteater” serving as its lead single. Rick Ross, Noah Cyrus, Joey Badass, Joyner Lucas, and blink-182 also made guest appearances. The latter marked the album’s closing track “It’s All Fading to Black,” which incorporates stylistic elements from the emo-nodding rock X often referenced.
