XXXTentacion Murder Suspect Takes Plea Deal, Will Testify Against 3 Others

Written by on August 16, 2022

One of the four suspects accused of being involved in the 2018 death of XXXTentacion has accepted a plea deal and will testify as a witness in the cases of the remaining three defendants.

Robert Allen pleaded guilty on Friday to the lesser charges of second-degree murder and robbery with a firearm. “Mr. Allen’s role in this, it was much less than the other three,” said his attorney Jim Lewis, per NBC Miami. “More of an accessory after the fact than really part of the planning. Certainly, he never got out of the car, never had a gun, never shot anybody.”

Lewis said Allen struck the plea deal “hoping for a lot better than a life sentence.” He will be sentenced on Feb. 23, 2023.

XXXTentacion, born Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, was fatally shot outside RIVA Motorsports in Florida on June 18, 2018. According to WPLG, detectives said two armed men approached the vehicle carrying the artist, murdered him, and fled the scene with a small bag containing $50,000.

Michael Boatwright, Dedrick Williams, and Trayvon Newsome are facing first-degree murder and robbery with a firearm charges. Boatwright is accused of firing the weapon that killed XXXTentacion. In 2020, X’s father Dwayne Onfroy demanded on his Instagram Stories that Boatwright receive the death penalty, and Williams, Newsome, and Allen get life without parole.

Prosecutors believe Williams and Allen stayed inside the dealership to keep tabs on the rapper as he perused the dealership, while Boatwright and Newsome were the ones involved in the altercation that led to his death.
