YK Osiris wants to pay for the funeral of a 14-year-old boy who died this week after falling from a ride at an amusement park in Orlando, Florida.
The Jacksonville native took to his Instagram Story on Saturday to reach out to his followers for help in contacting the family of Tyre Sampson, who fell to his death while on the Orlando Free Fall drop tower at Orlando’s ICON Park on Thursday night.
“If anybody knows his family tell them to DM me because I want to pay for his funeral cost,” YK wrote.
As previously reported, the St. Louis, Missouri teen died due to injuries sustained in the fall. According to the park, the Orlando FreeFall ride stands at 430 feet in height, making it “the world’s tallest free-standing drop tower.”
A rep for the SlingShot group, which operates the Orlando FreeFall ride, told Complex on Friday they were “heartbroken” by the news.
“We extend our condolences and deepest sympathy to his family and friends,” the rep said. “We are working with the Sheriff’s Office and ride officials on a full investigation. The Orlando FreeFall will be closed until further notice.”
An ICON Park spokesperson reiterated the rep’s comments, while confirming that all involved are “fully cooperating” with the ongoing investigation.
“A tragedy occurred last night at the Orlando FreeFall and our hearts are heavy with sadness,” the ICON Park rep said. “The owner of the attraction is fully cooperating with authorities and ICON Park is doing everything we can to assist. The Orlando FreeFall will be closed pending a full investigation. Other businesses at ICON Park are scheduled to be open during their normal business hours.”
