Young M.A‘s long-awaited debut album is headed our way.
The Brooklyn rapper announced Herstory in the Making on Thursday afternoon, revealing its cover art, tracklisting, and official release date. Young M.A said she was dedicating the project to her late brother, Kenneth Ramos, who was killed 10 years ago.
“There isn’t a single day that I don’t think about my brother. He continues to motivate me; inspire me and this project will forever be dedicated to his legacy,” she said in a press release, before revealing what the album will deliver. “You’re gonna get the truth. You’re gonna get the cocky joints, the slick talk joints where I talk my talk, but then I’m gonna get personal. Real personal. That’s why this album is called Herstory in the Making, because it’s about all sides of me. People will hear this album and say, ‘I had no idea she was going through all that.’ I don’t put myself out there on social media. I save it for the music, and I write it all. This is all me.”
In conjunction with the album announcement, Young M.A dropped the video for “PettyWap 2,” which will serve as the project’s bonus track. You can check out the visual, directed by Marc Diamond, above.
Herstory in the Making is slated to arrive Sept. 27. It’ll span 21 tracks, including the bonus cut, and will boast contributions from Zaytoven, Relle Bey, Max YB, Mike Zombie, Antwan “Amadeus” Thompson, NY Bangers, and more.
