Young Thug Says Lil Nas X Shouldn’t Have Revealed That He’s Gay

Young Thug is all about putting on younger artists now that he’s made it. The always-positive Thugger doesn’t have a bad word to say about the rappers coming up in his wake and he can occasionally gush over the next generation, as he did in a new interview with No Jumper. But he also let it be known that he didn’t think Lil Nas X should have revealed that he’s gay.
“I feel like he probably shouldn’t have told the world, because these days—motherf***ers is just all judgement,” he said. “It ain’t even about the music no more, Soon as the song comes on everybody’s like ‘this gay ass n***a’”.
Thug also said that Juice WRLD is the second coming of Lil Wayne at the peak of his powers.
“He probably like that…2006-2009 Lil Wayne. Cause this n***a really can freestyle. Like, he really don’t write,” he told Adam22. “If you give him a subject, he’ll go rap right now. And he’s going to have metaphors. He’s going to have punchlines…You can’t compete with him.”
Thug cited Juice’s deep knowledge of pop culture as his biggest strength. He said that no matter what subject you give the rapper, he’s going to know everything about it. Thug said that Juice has an encyclopedic knowledge of cartoons from Nicktoons to Dragon Ball Z. To prove his point, he said that if he and Adam were to talk about Tarzan, they would just think of a handsome guy swinging through the jungle. He thinks Juice WRLD would make a punchline out of a side character that most people had never heard of.
“You can’t compete with him,” he said. “He knows too much.”
As for how his own success has changed him, Thug said that he’s not as free as he was in his younger days. Because he’s working to bring up other rappers and has achieved the platform to do it, he has to be more deliberate in his actions.
“Back then it was free, because you wasn’t…you wasn’t a superstar,” he said. “Now it’s like certain shit you can’t do. Certain shit you can’t say…it’s like certain things I can’t even do no more…I was free. I was able to say ‘Fuck Trump.’ Like ‘I’m finna rob Trump and slit his throat.'”
Speaking of the president, Thugger was asked if he would make a better Commander-in-Chief than Kanye West. “F**k yeah. Because he can’t, he can’t out think me,” he said. “He can out troll me but he can’t out think me. I’m a thinker. He’s the type of… Kanye will do something and make a mistake and then be like, f**k. I’m the type to be like hold on, man. I’m totally different.”
Give a watch to the whole interview up top and keep an eye out for a super-brief appearance from Future.
