YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s ‘38 Baby 2’ Debuts at No. 1

Written by on May 4, 2020

YoungBoy Never Broke Again earned his second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 in less than a year with 38 Baby 2

Less than seven months ago, AI YoungBoy 2 debuted atop the Billboard 200 after moving 110,000 units. The only time a solo artist had two separate albums reach No. 1 in a quicker amount of time was when Future received top honors in back-and-back weeks in March 2017 with his self-titled album followed by Hndrxx

The sequel to 2016’s 38 Baby, which was announced just days before its April 24 release, took the top spot despite receiving 67,000 equivalent album units. Of that sum, 63,000 consisted of streaming, equaling 96.9 million on-demand streams, while 4,000 came from traditional album sales.

It’s the lowest total for an album to debut at No. 1 since Perception by NF received 55,000 units in 2017. Last year, Billie Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? topped the Billboard 200 chart for a third nonconsecutive week with 62,000 units.

After pulling in a chart-topping 124,000 units in its first weekBlame It on Baby by DaBaby saw a 55 percent decline in sales with 56,000 equivalent album units, which was still good enough for second. Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake rounded out the top three with 49,000 units.

After spending an entire month atop the Billboard 200, The Weeknd’s After Hours has fallen to fourth. His dominance on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Blinding Lights” could also be coming to an end
