Zayn Malik says he will not contest the assault allegations levied against him by Yolanda Hadid—the mother of his longtime partner, Gigi Hadid.
In a statement shared on social media Thursday, the 28-year-old singer addressed the claims he had struck Yolanda during an argument that occurred earlier this month. Though he didn’t name Yolanda, Zayn said the altercation began after one of Gigi’s relatives stopped by his home while Gigi was away. Sources tell TMZ that Zayn had “struck” Yolanda during the incident and that she was considering filing a police report.
“… In an effort to protect that space for [my daughter] I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago,” he wrote. “This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press.”
