So this is absolutely the most interesting top 10 week we got out of the entirety of 2026! And yeah, I already have a lot to say about it! Excluding the #1 so I’ll just ignore that and get to the rest that actually matters right now, because wow am I happy with what I am seeing. The top 10 has been a little better in quality during the fall as opposed to the slog of a summer, but mostly it’s been rotating quickly, and I mean MUCH more quickly, with the new entries. That’s VERY damn pleasing to see, and especially this week where it’s from 3 unrelated acts, including the remix that lots of folks including myself were anticipating like crazy!

Yes I do prefer the Expectations remix over the original, and I think what might’ve subtracted from the intro just a little, more than makes up for it in Chappell’s presence, the “no boy NO BOY” adlib on the last chorus from her was cheeky in the best possible way, and her chemistry with Olivia is just fantastic on here. We already know how much they’re best friends in real life (and fun fact, if you didn’t know before, Chappell does backup vocals on Olivia’s song ‘Get Him Back!’ especially in the spoken outro) and I was so thrilled to see they were on a song together, let alone on a remix of a song I already have been loving since August. It’s also ties The Subway for Chappell’s highest charting song…

…while Tate McRae now has reached her HIGHEST chart peak (as a lead artist… let’s just pretend ‘What I Want’ doesn’t exist tbh) with Housewife at #2! And honestly… I’m not all that crazy about this song. I had some high hopes that this would be much better than ‘Tit For Tat’, her big new debut from last year and most recent top 10 hit before this one. And it’s not terrible, melody is admittedly catchy, but her writing has just been so much better than this in the past. I don’t really know what to make of it yet, but it’s still a net-positive because it’s hyped up and being talked about unlike lots of what makes the top 10 these days, it’s also got a HUGE number of streams lately, and it’s a brand new addition to the top 10. Who am I to shun her for, after all?

I haven’t heard the new Zach Bryan and Lana Del Rey collab, but now that it’s here, I suppose I will. A 3rd new addition really makes the top 10 exciting and busy for once. This also marks Lana’s 3rd top 10 entry. To quote the mask guy from Crash Bandicoot 4, “Really, only 3? Funny. Seemed like more.”

Combine that with Nicole Kidman holding on, even if not as strongly as I wanted it to, and also Stupid Song continuing to stay, and Patient Zero (which I definitely don’t like as a song but it’s still new so, again, I won’t be shunning that opportunity), and Dracula sticking around for the chart week where the date is exactly Halloween. Halloween isn’t gonna fall on a Saturday for another 11 years, by the way.

Believe it or not, this is the first time since March 2025 that multiple songs by different artists have debuted in the Top 5. Not sure if that’s a testament to how exciting this week is or how rough the last two years have been, but the amount of movement we’ve had here recently is a very promising sign!

It’s typical how we just had one of the busiest weeks for new music in a long time, and despite that, Ella still found a way back to #1. I really hope Tate McRae can get there next week with the huge streaming momentum she has, but if not, then we may be relying on MJ or even Mariah at this point.

Absolutely delighted that ‘Expectations’ climbed this much! It was already fantastic to begin with, but the remix is one of the best pop collabs of the year. The fact that Olivia’s gone Top 3 with the fourth single from her album is impressive and it’s awesome to see Chappell match her career peak.

Amazing to see “Expectations” in the top 3! I also like “Lies” so glad to see it in the top 5, and “Housewife” is okay but nice to see it in the top 2; might have a shot at #1 if it continues its streaming stability
