Look, I love “Man I Need” as a song so much, but why is it still here? Even “Choosin’ Texas” feels like it’s still quite big now. Like, I just can’t make sense of how when it comes to #2 hits, it would be bigger than “Counting Stars” or even “Birds of a Feather” if we’re talking the same decade 😮💨.
Well, I’m still cheering it on, hopefully it becomes the 2nd biggest hit of this year…

If every week of the Billboard Hot 100 since its inception in August 1958 had a countdown video with a dedicated community like we have now, which era of the top 10 would you want to experience? Ignore everything that could be happening in history and just focus on the songs that were charting at the time.
My personal pick would be winter 2013-14 because a lot of the songs I am fond of now peaked at that period. Honorable mentions to 2007 and every week Foreigner’s “Waiting For A Girl Like You” and Missy Elliott’s “Work It” were at #2.

Guys, don’t get too comfortable with seeing ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ dropping 3 places because I don’t entirely think that means it’ll be out of here soon. I am very certain it will regain starting soon, because as of tomorrow, Toy Story 5 is coming to Disney+. I mean yeah that’s not bad news of course, and I actually think this song is pretty okay, but yeah, just don’t get too comfortable thinking it will be gone soon. That’s all I’m saying.

Man, I don’t get excited when I see what a big hit is these days on the charts. The entire top 3 feels so unremarkable and easy to tune out, to me at least.
When I see ‘Choosin Texas’ as the #1 song in the country right now, it feels less like a massive hit song conquering the cultural conversation (7 months after its first week at the top, mind you), and instead just feels like… the best-selling brand of toilet paper of the week. Something that is so unimportant to expend any thought on. Something mundane.

Congrats to Ella Langley for breaking the record, yes I really like “Choosin’ Texas” but it’s not worthy being the longest-running #1, but congrats nonetheless
Taylor Swift has a new single, “Patient Zero”, that will be out this Friday and I’m hoping that will end the run of “Choosin’ Texas” after 24 weeks at the top (since it’ll hold next week)
It’s also fascinating to see “Dracula” re-peak nearly a year into its chart run

‘Bby Wow’ equals the highest charting song of Karol G’s career. It matches ‘TQG’ with Shakira from 2023. With its current momentum, I could see her entering the Top 5 next week and that would be a real positive. I’m also amazed that ‘Dracula’ returns to its peak after all this time.

In the past six weeks, we’ve had only one new song in the Top 10. I’m sorry, but there’s no excuse for the sheer lack of excitement or movement at this point. Hopefully Adéla can break through with ‘Nicole Kidman’ or
‘Ain’t In LA’ if either of them get a radio push. Her streaming numbers are huge.
